ABC Pattern Stash Challenge!
Spring is here, and that is getting me SO motivated to do all the things! I do find that that is a bit too broad for me, so I decided to set up a challenge for myself to finally start tackling my pattern stash. Say hello to the ABC Pattern Stash Challenge!
My stash is filled with near 150+ patterns which I have been slowly sewing through. However, picking and choosing patterns as I fancy really depends on my mood, and in all honesty slows down my ability to actually try all my patterns at least once.
I took some time recently to catalog all of the patterns I currently own and I had no idea how many I actually had. This cataloging is what finally made me decide I needed to really start sewing what I have before buying any more patterns! I can tell when I have sewn something in my database because I like to change the picture to one of me in my make. As you can see… I have many more patterns to make. This challenge will at least give me 26 more makes under my belt!
Challenge Rules
I find being a bit under pressure makes me more motivated and successful, so I want to impose some rules and guidelines for this challenge. Now, I will be following these myself, however you could cater the challenge to what works for you.
- Sew at least two patterns per week. This keeps the challenge to around 13 weeks, vs 26 if I did one a week. The more I can do, the better! But I think two a week is a very attainable goal.
- Sew at least one pattern from each letter of the alphabet that is in your stash.
- If you do not have a pattern for a particular letter, make two of another letter to still end up with 26 total patterns sewn.
- (NOT REQUIRED) Or you can purchase a pattern that starts with the letter you are missing.
- Try not to sew the same type of pattern (a similar dress, a tank top, etc….) in consecutive makes. Though if it cannot be helped, just keep sewing 🙂
These are just some loose rules I am giving myself. If you want to do a similar challenge, but want to change up a few rules, go for it!
