Olympia Pullover – New Horizons Designs
Ever have those days where you want to wear a hoodie, but it’s too hot to actually wear one? This summer has been CRAZY hot and that is exactly how I’ve been feeling with my early morning workouts.
Great thing is, there’s a pattern that will solve this problem! The Olympia Pullover from New Horizons Designs is the perfect addition to my workout wardrobe!

The Pattern
The Olympia Pullover is definitely not something you see every day. Unlike other hoodies, it has an open side wrap design making it cooler but it can also be warn as a swimsuit cover, an extra layer in the colder months, and for the gym!
This pattern comes in two lengths: Shirt and Tunic and you can also choose from three different necklines: Standard hood, Scoop hood, and hoodless.
This pattern also comes with a Projector file. And if you are looking for something your kids, there is a childrens and bundle pattern which has both the adult and childrens.

The Fabric
Fabric I used for this pattern is a beautiful Watercolor Geo French Terry from Blended Thread Fabrics.
I personally found this fabric to be a heavier french terry which ended up giving this hoodie some nice body. I would also be interested in trying to make this pullover with a lighter weight fabric next time
This pattern is designed for knits. Suggested fabrics include: (Stretch fabric with at least 25% stretch) Sweatshirt Fleece, French Terry, Cotton Lycra, Jersey, Cotton interlock, Poly blends, Medium-Thick Knits.

Sewing and Any Adjustments
While I happen to have one, the great thing about this pattern is that you don’t need a serger! I chose to use mine, but it would be a very easy transition to use only my sewing machine for this project.
The only issue I ran into was my own fault. Next Pullover, I will be making sure to baste the side overlaps to make sure they not only don’t move, but are easier to maneuver through my machine when attaching the band. They shifted slightly where really it is only me that will notice, but it’s a lesson learned!
