Hello there! Welcome to The Lilac Needle!

I decided recently that I wanted to add yet another thing to my list of hobbies which also played into my main hobby of sewing! Enter in this blog! This has actually been something I’ve been interested in perusing for some time, but always fell into an indecision paralysis with always thinking about and researching exactly what I wanted to share.

Why the change and why start now?

There were a few influences into the “Why” for making this blog. I’ve actually wanted to do this for a few years but always fell victim to Analysis Paralysis where I researched and researched and never found the perfect fit for what I wanted to do. After becoming frustrated because of all that research and no decisions made, I would move on to something else (you know, life happens) and forget what I looked into already.

I’m starting this blog in 2020, during some very trying and unfortunate times – The Covid 19 Pandemic. While these are unprecedented times, these circumstances also have afforded me more free time, energy, and a new found sense of “If not now, when?” Rather than start the research cycle again, I decided it was time to dive right in!

More time is one major reason for starting this blog, which also plays into the next reason, a resurgence of my love of sewing. More time means more sewing time! I’ve made more pieces in the last 2 months than I had in the last year and I am thoroughly enjoying sharing what I make on my social media. I have also picked up starting to pattern test which helps force me into trying new patterns, new techniques, and new companies.

Thank you so much for taking time to visit my very small corner of the internet! Here’s to learning more about my sewing hobby and sharing my successes and learning opportunities (happy accidents/failures) with you! I intend on making the primary focus about my sewing adventures, but there may be some of my life happenings mixed in 🙂 I hope that you will enjoy this journey with me!
