Cavallos and Cami Tank
Making great progress with the #ABCPatternStashChallenge! Now we’re on to letter C which I had the perfect pattern in my stash just waiting to be made. I also did a pattern test close enough that I decided to make this a dual post since they both begin with C! The Cavallos leggings and the new Cami Tank from Greenstyle Creations!
The Pattern
The Cavallo Leggings
The uniqueness of these leggings had me both awe struck and intimidated at the same time. Being used to just straight seams, seeing these interesting curves made me hold off on making this pattern for some time.
What's great about these leggings is that there is no inseam (the seam on the inside of your legs) which make any activities done with these leggings on very comfortable. There are two lengths, full and capri that come with the pattern.
The back curve of this pattern is also super flattering and really accentuates your assets.
While I don't personally do any horse back riding, there is also an optional knee patch that is ideal for that activity.
For this pattern, your fabric MUST have very good stretch. At least 75% to have these leggings fit properly. I would also suggest that if you need to grade for this pattern, definitely do so. I was all over the place with my sizes and grading made it so this pattern fit PERFECTLY!
The Greenstyle Cami Tank
The Cami Tank is a fitted top with an optional shelf bra. The pattern has three lengths as well as two strap widths and three strap placement options.
The fabric requirements for this pattern is less than the Cavallos, being only 50% required. I used the same fabric for both patterns and they fell in the 75-80% stretch range.
My cami was made with the skinny straps and cross back option. I also settled on a length that fell between the waist and cropped lengths as that just felt like it suited the set better. I also went with the optional shelf bra which was a breeze to make!
While I did not need it, the pattern also comes with a FBA (full bust adjustment) as well. (optional if you have a over/full difference of 4”-6”)
The Fabric
I have a thing for Ombre. Does this fabric make it obvious? This beautiful Blue Moody Ombre Athletic knit is from Blended thread fabrics and was a no brainer to use for this workout set.
Initially I was just planning on using it to make the Cavallos, but then the test for the Cami came out right as I was cutting the leggings…. destiny that these two be paired together!
Feedback and Final Thoughts
Starting with the Cavallos:
After grading this pattern to fit my size exactly, I am so in love with these leggings. I actually tried making these once before when they were first released, but failed so miserably I didn’t even want to share. Revisiting this pattern for the challenge was a great opportunity to see where I could improve, and grading was the ticket! My size was an F for waist and hips, but an I for thighs, and H for calves. So I did need to do a fair amount of grading, but it paid of so much.
The Cami Tank:
I was originally not going to do the shelf bra, but decided to challenge myself and included it with this fabric. I am so glad I did! It was surprisingly much easier that I thought it would be. The only issue I had was attaching the elastic to the wrong side of the fabric. That’s why the flipped band is white when it should match the rest but to be honest… I kind of dig it!
